Doorbell Manners
Are you tired of your dog barking like a maniac when
visitors come up to your
door? Do you feel stressed when your loud dog
overwhelms your visitors?
Teach your dog that the sound of a knock on the
door, or the sound of a doorbell,
is a cue to calmly go to a specific place in your
house, like a rug, a crate, or a
dog bed. You will get good guidance during the
class as you practice pairing
both doorbell sounds and knocking sounds with calm
behavior. Leave class with
progress you can take home with you as you continue
the training in your own
environment! Take this class with Polite Greetings
to get the full scoop on
making guest arrivals stress-free.

Polite Greetings
Jumping up to say "hi"
makes perfect sense, and would even be considered an
appropriate greeting if directed to another dog.
We need to teach dogs the way that humans like to be
greeted: by a calm dog with four feet on the floor.
We will talk about why dogs jump up and effective
strategies to train polite greetings.

Self Control
The ability to calm oneself down
is not necessarily a skill that all dogs (or
humans!) are born with. We will
increase your dog's ability to deal with frustration
and calm down using exercises that
are easy to practice anywhere. This class will
also go over "leave it" and "drop it".

Scary
Monsters
Does your dog get
worried about new people, new dogs, new noises or
sights in the world? We will
discuss ways to help your dog gain confidence around
triggers they react to with stress and fear.
Class meets in two parts: Scary People Monsters and
Scary Dog Monsters. Sign up for just one or
both depending on your dog's needs.

Reactive
Rover Lecture
While on leash, does your dog react to other dogs by
barking and lunging? Does his behavior scare
you or other people? Are you frustrated by
your dog's behavior and want to change it, but
aren't ready for the stress of attending a reactive
rover class with him? Come to this lecture for
humans only which will give you information and
support. Having a leash reactive dog makes
walks more stressful for both of you. Leave
this class armed with ideas and exercises you can do
with your dog to break through the cycle of
reactivity and create positive change in your walks.

Dog
Meets Baby
(for humans only)
If your first-born is a dog,
adding a human puppy to the mix will create some
shifts in your family dynamic. Learn how to prepare
for your new addition before he or she arrives and set your dog up to be a successful "older
sibling". Discussion will include changes to make
ahead of time to ease the transition for your dog,
warning signs to watch for when your dog
interacts with your baby, dog stress signals, and
challenges you may encounter as your family grows.
Instructor is a mother to two young children and two
large dogs. Read about her parenting dilemmas at

Dog
Meets Toddler
Once a new baby starts to crawl and then to walk,
life gets much more difficult for a dog. If you have
a new baby or a baby on the way, this class will
give you the scoop on how to help your dog and your
child be lifelong friends who are safe and gentle
with each other. Learn how to recognize when your dog is
stressed, and how to respond if your dog growls or
snaps at your baby. Also learn how to give your
child guidance and feedback to help them grow up to
be dog-friendly and to reduce the risk of getting
bitten by any dog they encounter.

Dog Body
Language
(for humans only)
This class is $40 if purchased separately and runs 2
hours long.
Confused by your dog’s behavior? Worried about the
way other dogs respond to
your dog? Scared by how strange dogs approach you
or your dog? Learning
how to read the often subtle signals dog use to
communicate will help you
understand all dogs better. Best of all, when you
understand the messages they
are sending you, you be able to use YOUR body
language to diffuse tension or
help scared dogs feel safer.
Dogs communicate a great deal of information with their body
movements and
postures. Much of their subtle signaling is easy to miss
unless you know what
to watch for. Body language will tell you if a dog is
stressed or comfortable,
ready to interact, ready to fight, or ready to flee. Body
language will often alert
you to trouble long before any sounds like growls or whines
tell you something
is wrong.
Over 90 slides and videos illustrating dog body language
will introduce you to the
wonderful world of dog body language. You will never look
at dogs the same
again! You may even find that behavior that appeared to
happen "without
warning" was actually preceded by multiple signals. Take
home an extensive
handout that will be your "field guide" to dog body
language.
